When you are on the road, you inevitably notice other bad drivers. They seem to be everywhere. You probably even ask yourself why they are not aware of the way they drive and if they are, why they do not do something about it. Noise Is A Huge Distraction

Cell phones are a major distraction. Most people realize that fact, but still take phone calls while driving. Even though many states have passed laws making it illegal to use your phone while driving, many people still do so. People using their cell phones while driving, is one of the biggest causes of auto accidents. For many, it just seems like too much trouble to pull over to make phone calls. Think before you use your cell phone while driving. Chances are it can wait and remember auto insurance after an accident can be very expensive.

Listening to music is another activity that bad drivers indulge in. It is not so much the actual listening, but the fact that you have to do other things in association with the music. Things you should not do while driving include:

- changing CDs

- pressing buttons or moving dials

- scrolling through songs

These things do not take a long time, but they do distract you and lots can happen while you are distracted.

The other type of noise that proves to be a distraction to drivers is passenger noise. Talking to those in the car with you can distract you from the road. If you have children, the need to referee and scold them can be significantly more distracting than listening to music or talking on the phone.

All these types of distractions combine to make you a bad driver.

Other Bad Mistakes That Drivers Make

Distractions cause people to drive unsafely. However, typically we are aware of these distractions and make the effort to compensate for them. However, there are many other things that we do which are examples of bad driving.

Many of us take extra care in areas where we know police officers tend to do speed traps. We get tense if we spot a police care and make sure we are doing everything right and driving within the limit. This means that we are more careless in our regular driving and would probably drive even worse if we knew the police were not around.

When we are looking for a space in a busy parking lot, we are often so wrapped up in finding that space that we neglect to be vigilant about pedestrians and other cars that are moving.

If you have gotten tickets for bad driving in the past, you are probably paying the price for it by increased car insurance premiums. However, take heart, such violations typically go off your driving record within a few years. This will lower your cost. Make sure you drive safely to avoid further tickets. Shop around carefully for a good price on your car insurance needs and you may be able to save money with a company that is better at forgiving such issues.
