The majority of times when you sell a classic car, the person buying it will live relatively nearby. But many times you’ll get interest from someone in another state seeking to buy it.

In these cases, unless they’re willing to come to your state and drive it back, you’ll have to arrange for transporting it to their location. Every day, thousands of cars are transported across the country - mostly from manufacturers to dealers.

A good deal of automobile transporting is performed by businesses that specialize in the activity. Within quite a few of these companies, however, there is a division which specializes in the transportation of classic and antique cars. These are the companies that you’ll want to consider for transferring your car to its new owner.

Transporters of antique cars will work with drivers who are experts in handling these types of cars.

For instance, generally if a nick or scratch gets on an automobile during the course of transportation it’s not that big of a deal. The dealership will do a bit of touch-up to it, and send the car on its way.

In the case of an antique car, however, in which the buyer has probably paid a premium price, the expectation is that it is arriving in pristine condition. Drivers who specialize in dealing with antique cars are well aware of this and will have special procedures in place to ensure that the car arrives at it’s destination in the same condition that it was in when it left the seller.

Sometimes the buyer is in another country altogether. In this case, some of the transportation companies will still be able to take care of your request and even ship overseas, if necessary.

Prior to committing your invaluable classic automobile to any of these businesses, however, it is best to perform a full search profile on them before handing over your car to them.
